Charlotte and Ben are known on TikTok through their account Rosemary Deer Lodge (@rosemary_deer_lodge).

In a video on the platform, they brought viewers on-site to one of their recent jobs.

They removed the floorboards down to the foundational beams of the home and made a startling discovery.

“We had no idea the house was at risk of collapse,” the subtitle read at the start of the video.

By taking the rest of the floor off, it revealed more rotten joists or structural support.

“Not only may the stairs have collapsed but the structure of the whole house was at risk,” another subtitle read.

The married duo fixed the joists and reinforced the ones that were still able to be used.

To be safe rather than sorry, they also applied a damp-proof membrane in key areas.

They also evened out the joists for the heating and additional flooring installation.

As the video came to a close, they admitted that the unexpected event delayed them in their progress.

The construction team has since been working nonstop to fix the unexpected issue and get back on track.

They added in the video caption that they were “so pleased” they discovered this when they did.
