CARE home grannies got some beefcake to go with their afternoon tea — a male stripper.

The fireman-dressed hunk was under strict instructions not to go “the full monty”.

But he delighted residents by stripping to his undies as they cheered him on at Willow Bank Care Home in Pershore, Worcs.

The home, which caters for people with dementia, said the cheeky performance this month created a real “moment of joy”.

Resident Lizzie, 87, said: “Well, I wasn’t expecting that with my cup of tea – but I’ve not laughed so much in years.”

Paul Chambers, dementia and well being lead at the home, said: “Our activity coordinator was talking with the residents and being a bit cheeky.

“They said I’ll get a stripper and they loved it.

“They’re all adults and as long as they all consent to it, we thought why not.

“We did have a fireman, we did give him restrictions and limitations on how far to take it. He was fabulous, he only went down to his undies.

“It’s not something that happens regularly, it’s unconventional. But they are adults and they still laugh about it now.

“All our adults have some form of dementia, from the mid to the latter, so for them to enjoy and remember parts of it is helping them.

“And of course give them a good time. The home manager is quite trusting, she gives us free rein. The families love it as we do something a bit different.”

Home manager Carole Hall added: “We always aim to create moments of joy and connection at Willow Bank, and this event certainly did that.

“Our residents love a bit of fun, and this gave them something completely different to talk about.

“We’re still hearing about it at breakfast.”
