Who is Maya Jama?

Maya Jama is a presenter of Somali and Swedish descent, who was born in August 1994.

She was named after civil-rights activist and celebrated poet Maya Angelou because her mum read the famous poem, I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings, during her pregnancy.

Maya made the move from Bristol to London at the age of 16 to pursue her broadcasting career, and set up her own YouTube channel as well as landing a gig as a presenter for JumpOff TV.

She then became the host of MTV’s The Wrap-Up, before moving on to host MTV Essentials and MTV News.

The talented star also hosted the Friday and Saturday 10am to 1pm shows on BBC Radio 1 — before making the decision to leave in May 2020.

Aside from her TV and radio work, Maya has enjoyed success with fashion collections for PrettyLittleThing and JD Sports, as well as modelling for brands such as Adidas and Maybelline.

What TV shows has Maya Jama hosted?

Since early 2023, Maya has been the host of Love Islandshe took over the role after Laura Whitmore quit the ITV2 show.

Before that, she was the host of BBC Three’s Glow Up after taking over from Stacey Dooley.

Maya also fronted the first series of Channel 4‘s The Circle alongside Alice Levine.

During lockdown in 2020, Maya co-hosted Peter Crouch: Save Our Summer alongside the former England football star.

The duo combined again in 2021 for Crouchy’s Year-Late Euros.

Maya also hosted Simon Cowell’s talent show Walk The Line.

January 2024 saw Maya host the all new spin-off show Love Island: All-Stars, which came to an end in February.

She’s set to return to presenting duties on the show when it returns in June with an all new line up.

The popular presenter lives in a plush London home, which she bought with her hard-earned cash.

Who is Maya Jama dating?

Maya is well known for dating rapper Stormzy from 2016 until 2020.

Her next serious relationship was with basketball star Ben Simmons.

They confirmed their romance in June 2021 when Ben shared a screenshot of an intimate FaceTime call he had with Maya on his Instagram story.

Then, after much speculation, on January 11, 2022, the couple confirmed their engagement.

But in September 2022, it was revealed that the pair called it off following a “difficult time” over their conflicting schedules.

A source told The Sun: “It’s been a difficult time for them.

“While they both care for each other so much, they truly gave it their all and realise that they just come from two different worlds.

“They now understand they don’t have the time they thought to dedicate to this relationship.”

In August 2023, it was confirmed that Maya and Stormzy were once again an item.

In December of the same year they made their red carpet debut as a couple at The Fashion Awards.

The next series of Love Island is set to grace our screens on Monday June 3, 2024.

The launch show will kick off at 9pm on ITV2 and will be available to catch up on ITVX.

The Sun revealed how Love Island has reportedly signed stunning Patsy Field, who is an Influencer with a disability.

Patsy is 29 from London and has Erb’s Palsy.

This means one of her arms is shorter than the other and has less function.

She has spoken out on social media about her disability in the past.

She said: “One thing you guys don’t know about me is I have a disability. I have never spoken about it on here before because I am a bit self-conscious about it to be honest.

“Pretty much everyone says they don’t notice it, or they have never noticed it before but once I tell you go back and look through my old videos, you’ll be able to spot it.”

Samantha Kenny

Samantha Kenny from Liverpool could be entering the Love Island villa this summer.

The 27-year-old works in a beauty salon as a make-up artist.

Samantha is no stranger to social media as she’s often seen posting on Instagram.

Grace Jackson

Grace Jackson is a Manchester-based model.

The influencer is already followed by famous faces such as Molly-Mae Hague and Conor McGregor.

The 25-year-old works for the agency MM Models.

She has enjoyed an incredible career so far and has already collaborated with some big brands.

“He’s the kind of lad you could happily take home to your mum.

“He’s been in talks with bosses for weeks and is set to jet out to the villa in Majorca in the coming week or so.”
