Despite the closures, Iceland still runs around 500 branches and 153 Food Warehouse stores in the UK.

Which Iceland stores are closing?

Iceland has already closed 17 branches across the UK, but there is more to come over the next month or so.

Earlier this month, the supermarket chain closed its Llanelli branch in Wales, and also its site in Fratton.

It also recently closed down its locations in the Market Shopping Centre in Crewe.

Its branch in Grange Road, Birkenhead also closed for the last time on Saturday, September 16.

The bargain supermarket will close two more stores by the end of October.

Its store on Trinity Street, Huddersfield will close on October 28 and on the same day its Fulford Road branch in York will also shut for good at 4pm.

Iceland isn’t the only retailer struggling to keep stores open.

Several high street retailers face closures due to rising costs and some are also still taking a hit from plummeting sales since the coronavirus pandemic.

That said, Iceland has opened a new store in Slough and two new shops under the Food Warehouse brand in Kendal and Aberdeen in recent months.

Typically, though, Iceland opens more than 20 new stores each year, with 24 new stores opened in the past year.

How can I save at Iceland?

There are plenty of deals and loyalty offers not to be missed at Iceland.

For example, there’s the Bonus Card Loyalty Scheme – it grants access to exclusive offers and lets you plan a budget by saving up cash in your account.

Launched in 2021, it’s free to sign up for online and you’ll just need to provide a few quick details.

With it, you can get the following special benefits:

  • £1 bonus each time you add £20 to your savings balance
  • Exclusive Bonus Card prices
  • Free home delivery in stores and online
  • Prizes and offers

It’s a similar thing to other loyalty schemes like Asda rewards and Tesco Clubcard.

It’s good to always shop around regardless of the offers you see though, because you never know what you’re missing elsewhere.

Use comparison tools like Trolley.co.uk to browse the price of an item from other supermarkets so you know you’re getting the best deal.
