GOGGLEBOX star Marcus Luther became a familiar face on our screens every Friday night with his partner Mica Ven.
But let’s take a look at his life away from the screen.
Who is Marcus Luther?
Marcus, 40, grew up in Thornton Heath in the knife-ridden borough of Croydon, south London.
He was the youngest of six growing up on a poverty-stricken estate.
He joined a criminal gang in his youth but left quickly after considering what could happen in the future.
Instead, he channelled his energy into working and says ambition kept him from straying.
“I was very motivated by business. I loved business and thought, ‘I cannot do the time, so I would never be the one to do the crime’,” he told The Sun.
Marcus is a now businessman, boxing coach and gym owner.
He trained his son Shiloh, who is now a professional boxer under the alias ‘Sugar Shy’.
In 2009, he founded TM Boxing Gym to initially work with “disadvantaged youths from the local community.”
On his website, Marcus said: “The main focus of the gym was to work with disadvantaged youth from the local community.
“We then went on to run sessions for the general public in the evenings as interest quickly grew.
“TM Boxing then started offering morning sessions to stay at home mums and people with weight and confidence issues.
“We now have over 200 keep fit members, 80 youth boxers and numerous schools that educate disadvantaged youth who use our services daily.”
What TV shows has Marcus Luther been in?
Marcus is best known for his stint on Gogglebox with his partner Mica Ven.
They made their debut in 2017 but announced they were walking away from the show in December 2022.
Despite their popularity, they explained their reasons for stepping away from Gogglebox.
“We’ve had so much fun with you all tuning in at home and the hardworking Gogglebox crews but it’s time to put down the remote and see what else God has in store for us,” they wrote in a joint statement.
In October 2023, it was announced that Marcus had joined the lineup for the new TV prison series Banged Up on Channel 4.
Is Marcus Luther married and does he have children?
Marcus is dating his Gogglebox co-star Mica.
The funny duo, who have been dating for several years, first met at their local church.
In an interview with Heat magazine, Marcus explained that he’d seen Mica sign up for a specific course, so he decided to do the same in order to get closer to her.
But despite the gesture, he admitted that his plan didn’t go exactly how he hoped it would.
“She tried to set me up with some other girls from the course. She wasn’t interested,” he told the magazine.
The couple are not the only famous faces in their family, as Marcus’ son Shiloh Defreitas is a professional boxer.
In 2022, he secured a victory against Iliyan Markov at London’s O2 Arena.
Mica’s daughters Sachelle and Shuggy have also occasionally appeared alongside the pair on Gogglebox.
Marcus and Mica also share a son called Yash and they all live together at their home in South London.
