What does Leandro Trossard’s celebration mean?

Belgian forward Leandro brought a fresh dimension to Arsenal’s frontline when he joined the club in January 2023.

He switched from Brighton in a $33.5 million deal on a long-term contract

He scored his first goal for the club in the 1-1 draw against Brentford on February 11 and became the first player in Premier League history to assist three goals in the first half of an away game in the 3-0 win at Fulham a month later.

Since making his debut with the club, he has shown off his signature celebration when he scores.

It was shown during a match against Brentford on November 25, 2023, when he scored a goal with teammate Oleksandr Zinchenko.

When does Leandro Trossard perform his celebration?

After Trossard successfully puts the ball into the net, his celebration often involves cupping his hands around his eyes to replicate the look of goggles.

He is now synonymous with the move whenever he scores. 

As of December 5, 2023, Trossard has already bagged three Premier League goals this season.

Can he press on and add more to his tally at the Emirates Stadium?

In the 2022/2023 Premier League season, he played 24 matches (plus nine as a sub).

They recorded 20 shots on target out of a total of 32 attempts and managed to score eight goals.

Speaking previously about the club, Trossard said: “It’s so much like a family.

“Once you enter the building everyone takes care of you, you can ask them whatever you want and it’s a really nice feeling.”

What has Leandro Trossard said about his celebration?

Speaking to Football London in January 2023, Trossard explained all about his trademark routine.

He said: “It all started a bit more than a year ago, when I asked my son what celebration I would do.

“He told me to do that celebration, I think he seen it on YouTube with a superhero. At that moment, I said, ‘okay, I will do it’.

“Now it’s a little thing between us. If I score, I do the celebration.

“I come home, he sees me and runs up to me and does the same thing. It’s a nice little thing between us and I’m enjoying it.”

Trossard married his partner Laura Hilven in 2019 and she was overjoyed with his move to The Emirates.

After the signing was confirmed she took to social media, writing: “That’s my man.”

They have two sons, Thiago and Amadeo, born in 2017 and 2023 respectively.
