EA SPORTS FC 24, or just FC 24, is the upcoming football sim video game from EA Sports, and it’s releasing very soon.
FC 24 will be the first game after publisher EA Sports and football’s top governing body FIFA ended their partnership.
FC 24 is just about to release later this month as the first game in the series after FIFA was dropped from the name[/caption]The addition of women players and mixed teams to FC 24’s most popular mode is one of the biggest new features we’ll see[/caption]This forced the FIFA series to rebrand to EA Sports FC, and the inaugural game in the renamed series is just around the corner.
You might be wondering when FC 24 is coming out and what improvements and changes this new entry will bring.
Here’s everything you need to know about the FC 24 release date and new features.
When is FC 24 coming out?
EA Sports FC 24 is officially releasing worldwide on September 29, 2023, for PlayStation and Xbox consoles, PC, and the Nintendo Switch.
For the first time, the Switch version will use a more modern engine, providing a similar experience to what PS4 and Xbox One gamers will be getting.
Gamers who pre-order the Ultimate Edition of the game will be able to start playing up to 7 days earlier, depending on the platform they buy FC 24 for.
Despite the new name, FC 24 retains all licensed leagues, teams, and footballers from previous FIFA games.
These include the Premier League, Spain’s La Liga, Italy’s Serie A, France’s Ligue 1, the German Bundesliga, and many more.
That’s more than 30 of the best football leagues, 700 licensed teams, over 100 stadiums, and more than 19,000 football players.
What new features will FC 24 have?
EA Sports FC 24 is adding more licensed leagues and players, including Spanish and German women’s leagues, Liga F and Frauen Bundesliga.
South Korea’s men’s second division K League 2 is also among the new additions to FC 24’s licensed competitions.
For the first time in the series’ history, FC 24 will include the license of the Ballon d’Or, French magazine France Football’s premier football award.
Apart from new licenses, FC 24 promises gameplay and visual improvements across the board.
These include a level of realism during matches that hasn’t been seen before.
The new HyperMotion V tech uses motion data from more than 180 top-tier football matches to achieve smooth, fluid, and realistic animations on the players.
By capturing the movements of real football stars from the Premier League, Spain’s La Liga and UEFA’s Men’s and Women’s Champions League, FC 24 promises the most lifelike movements ever.
The upcoming game also makes use of advanced artificial intelligence tech called Mimic AI, to recreate unique body movements as they happen during a match.
This means die-hard football fans will be able to experience an authentic representation of Manchester City star Erling Haaland’s signature running style while playing matches at home.
More than 1,200 football stars’ movements have been enhanced using the new tech.
The new AcceleRATE 2.0 system divides football players into seven archetypes based on their movement.
That’s twice as many archetypes as in predecessor FIFA 23, which will contribute to more realistic animations of players accelerating on the pitch.
As mentioned, Switch players will be getting similar gameplay to their PS4 and Xbox One counterparts, instead of the dated Legacy Editions that have been offered on Nintendo‘s platform in the past.
A full Ultimate Team experience and the Volta Football mode are also coming to the Nintendo Switch for the first time in the series.
Will FC 24 have Ultimate Team?
Yes, EA Sports FC 24 will feature the series’ most popular mode, Ultimate Team.
Following the rebranding of FIFA into EA Sports FC, FIFA Ultimate Team or FUT is dropping the FIFA name and will be known just as Ultimate Time or UT.
Ultimate Team is where gamers collect digital cards of licensed footballers and legendary players, to create their very own team.
The new Ultimate Team now comes with a feature called Evolutions, allowing you to improve select players’ skills.
The Traits system from previous FUT iterations is being replaced by a brand-new feature called PlayStyles.
PlayStyles give some footballers unique capabilities based on their real-life skills.
The new system uses data from British sports analytics company Opta to add more dimensions to players than the usual base ratings.
The big change in EA FC 24’s Ultimate Team is the addition of women footballers to the game’s most popular mode.
FC 24 players will be able to add both men’s and women’s football players to the same team in UT.
Players’ opinions on the new mixed teams in UT have been divided, but the majority are glad to have more options.
Fears that women players would be rated lower than their male counterparts proved unfounded.
Spanish women’s national team star Alexia Putellas has received the best player rating in FC 24, at 91.
She shares the top rating with Mbappé, Haaland, and de Bruyne, and some of her Liga F teammates are also among the top-rated.
