Brad Skelly has been removed from Married At First Sight UK (MAFS UK).
This comes after some distressing scenes last week caused domestic abuse charity Women’s Aid to speak out about his behaviour.
A show source told The Sun: “The relationship with Shona was getting toxic.
“Bosses stepped in before the situation got out of hand.”
In emotional scenes yet to be broadcast, dating coach on the show Paul Carrick Brunson tells Skelly, 27, and performing arts teacher Shona that their time on the show is up.
A Channel 4 spokesman said: “If any relationships on MAFS UK develop in a way that is deemed unhealthy we take expert advice as to whether the couple should leave the process.
“This was the case with Brad and Shona. Support is available at all times.”
Last week a “bullying” row erupted and viewers demanded E4 producers take action and remove Brad from the show, describing his behaviour towards his wife Shona was “controlling”.
Fans of the Channel 4 hit show voiced their anguish on social media, after the heavily tattooed reality star told his wife Shona to “shut up” and appeared angry when she was upset that some other couples on the show didn’t think they were genuine.
Brad snapped at Shona that she needed “external validation”, before telling her to stop talking.
“You need to let it go,” he snapped, not allowing her to speak.
When Shona then attempted to add to the conversation, Brad barked: “Shut up! Shut up!”
What has Brad Skelly said?
Both Brad and Shona took to social media after the episode finished.
Brad claimed that the edit of the episode did not reflect the full story.
Sharing a picture of himself in bed covering his face, he wrote: “That edit was difficult to watch.”
The model also added: “Always remember you are only seeing snippets for drama. Try not to have an emotional resilience to a person you have never sat down and had a conversation with physically.”
Shona, however, thanked her fans for their support.
She said to one fan: “Thank you so much. Tonight was hard to watch. I’ll get back to this in the morning. Love to you all.”
She also commented that she was “feeling the love from you all” in another post directed to her fans, commenting on “all the support” she has received.
Who is in the cast of MAFS 2023?
In a line-up more varied than ever, eight brides have been paired up with eight grooms for series seven of the reality show.
The new series of the Channel 4 dating reality show includes a Geordie Shore star, and also the first trans bride.
Nathanial, 36, is one of this year’s grooms, after first appearing on Geordie Shore: Hot Single Summer in 2021.
“I don’t trust anyone but myself, but I hope they’ve done a good job that’s all I can say,” Nathanial revealed.
Ella, 29, from Weston-Super-Mare, is the show’s first transgender bride.
She lives with her nan and says: “This experiment is so much more than just me getting married. I see this as a big deal for someone who has transitioned.”
