The pod was initially compared to a spaceship due to its futuristic appearance.

However a specialist website has now revealed that the egg is actually a “Mercedes MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) seat exhibit.”

Nico Demattia, writing for The Drive, explained how the object was designed by Mercedes to replicate the interior of the new S-Class.

Nico explains that the object would have been abandoned by Mercedes once the new S-Class went on sale.

He explained that Mercedes have their US headquarters just outside of Atlanta, explaining why the pod was abandoned in Georgia.

Nico said that he thought the pod should be saved and used as a gaming space, home cinema or even as a sleeping pod.

He also said that a mechanic could potentially turn the pod into a go-kart, adding that this might be a bit dangerous.

Meanwhile the new Mercedes Vision AVTR is a straight out of the science fiction concept automobile created in collaboration with James Cameron‘s film studio.

The AVTR is shorthand for the film Avatar but also for “Advanced Vehicle Transformation,” says Mercedes.

This neon-lit chrome egg vehicle is supposed to recreate a feeling of a living organism rather than a soulless object.

Gorden Wagener, Mercedes-Benz‘s design chief, said: “Everything can be changed, and at the same time has an impact on the whole organism, or the car.

“The user experience as a central element is comparable to a symbiotic organism.”

The car giant is currently rolling out turquoise headlights on auto-driving cars to warn of a little-known danger.

Mercedes-Benz will use the exterior lights to show that the motor is driving itself in the US.

California and Nevada have approved the level-three automated driving technology on public roads.

The technology, named Drive Pilot, will allow the Mercedes S-Class and Mercedes EQS to drive autonomously at speeds not exceeding 40mph.
