Fears Aston Villa star Boubacar Kamara will miss rest of season as club confirm ‘significant knee injury’ after scan

ASTON VILLA have been rocked by the news Boubacar Kamara has suffered a “significant injury” – and fear he will miss the rest of the season.

The midfielder has a suspected ACL problem after hobbling off in Sunday’s 2-1 home Premier League loss to Manchester United.

The France star had been in sharp form until his agonising moment.

Kamara appeared to get crocked as he closed down United counterpart Casemiro on 63 minutes.

His right knee wobbled as he tumbled to the ground.

Physios treated Kamara on the pitch – but after he walked off slowly he looked in pain as he grabbed his leg with his hand.

The 24-year-old was replaced by Moussa Diaby two minutes later.

Kamara will now have further scans on his anterior cruciate ligament to assess how bad it is.

But it appears the ex-Marseille anchorman faces being out until the summer – meaning he is unlikely to make the Euros.

His club said in a statement: “Aston Villa can confirm Boubacar Kamara has suffered a significant knee ligament injury.

“The midfielder sustained the damage during yesterday’s fixture with Manchester United and has subsequently undergone a scan this morning.

“Kamara’s condition will be reviewed ahead of a further consultation with a knee specialist.”

The grim news completes an unwanted hat-trick of ACL injuries for Villa this season after Emi Buendia and Tyrone Mings suffered identical injuries at the start of the campaign.
