Will ABBA perform at Eurovision 2024?

ABBA is not performing at the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö, Sweden.

However, there are hopes that the holographic projections used for the ABBA Voyage show in London will appear.

This year’s Eurovision marks 50 years since ABBA won.

A source has told The Sun: “It is 50 years since ABBA won in Brighton with Waterloo and they are going to be celebrated big time when the contest returns to Sweden.

“The group have made it clear they have no interest in performing again but ABBA’s music will be a major part of the event with a chunk of time put aside for a tribute after all the acts have performed.”

However, the source warned: “Bringing part of their ABBA Voyage show to Sweden is really complex because the tech is very expensive and complicated, which is why they had to build an arena for it in East London.

“Organisers are racing to try and make it possible but otherwise, a selection of stars, likely all from Sweden, will be singing ABBA’s music instead.

“It will be a memorable moment.”

When did ABBA win Eurovision?

Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid Lyngstad, also known as ABBA, won Eurovision in 1974 with their hit single Waterloo.

ABBA’s victory was the first win for Sweden.

With Loreen’s win at the 2023 Eurovision, Sweden has won seven times, making it the most successful country in Eurovision history.

Ireland is the second most successful country with six wins.

Eurovision Song Contest 2024 takes place on Saturday May 11, 2024 in Malmö, Sweden and Petra Mede and Malin Akerman will be hosting the event.

“I don’t think there will be any more music with ABBA.

Björn Ulvaeus

Malin said about the opportunity to host: “I can’t really describe my feelings about this.

“I am very excited and a little nervous, but in a positive way.

“I have always liked Eurovision and to be a part of this fantastic show together with Petra is a dream come true.

“Additionally, Petra is one of the funniest women I’ve ever met.”

Olly Alexander from pop band Years & Years will be representing the UK.

Will ABBA perform again?

It is unlikely that ABBA will perform as a group again.

Björn and Benny have found success with their own projects, such as the Mamma Mia musical and movies.

Agnetha and Frida both went on to have solo careers.

However, due to their age, none of them believe they will ever perform together again.

Why won’t ABBA reunite?

ABBA won’t reunite but fans have the opportunity to see the group as holograms at their ABBA Voyage show in London since May 26, 2022.

ABBA Voyage is 90 minutes long and plays 22 of the band’s greatest hits, including Voulez-vous and Lay All Your Love On Me.

The show is currently running until January 2025.

Their ninth and final album Voyage was released on November 5, 2021 and has ten song written by Benny and Björn.

In 2022 Björn said after its release: “I don’t think there will be any more music with ABBA.

“I think that was definitely our last album.

“It’s very emotional at times.

“The lifesize avatars that you see on stage together with the live musicians, you have to pinch yourself.

“Even I get the feeling that they really are there.”
