One owner said: “This advert drives my dog bonkers. The bell rings and all hell breaks loose with barking.”

Another said: “Can you take that bloody doorbell off your advert. My dog goes bats**t every time.”

The advert sees a woman taking a Tesco delivery at the same time as her neighbours return with a newborn.

She seems to get frustrated as the baby cries nextdoor but then takes a freshly cooked meal round to the new parents.

Despite its heart-warming message, viewers can’t get past the doorbell in that ad and others for Tesco Whoosh.

Marketing worker Polly Arrowsmith, 57, from North London, said: “Our miniature poodle goes crazy.

“It’s funny because we haven’t had a doorbell since we moved, but she’s primed for the sound.”
