World’s biggest supermodels including Cindy Crawford & Naomi Campbell unite on cover of Vanity Fair’s European editions

THE fashion world’s most famous supermodels look monochrome marvellous after decades of dominating the glossy magazines.

The likes of Helena Christensen, 54, and Iman, 68, joined Eva Herzigova, 50, and Cindy Crawford, 57, in Vanity Fair’s European editions, aiming to question the “mythology of beauty”.

In one snap, Helena poses nude apart from a pair of lace gloves.

In another, Eva is draped in a revealing cloak.

Other greats from the modelling world among the magazine’s 21 famous faces are Twiggy, 74, Amber Valletta, 49, Christy Turlington, 54, Naomi Campbell, 53, Claudia Schiffer, 53, Lauren Hutton, 79, and Carla Bruni, 55.

Speaking about the models on the cover, Vanity Fair Italy’s editor Simone Marchetti said: “In retrospect, their departure from the fashion landscape and the arrival of less perfect beauty represented the beginning of a change.

“For the first time, fragility trumped perfection, vulnerability over power.

“And this is where we are today: the return of models is the last act of a revolution which is finally making peace with its own history.

“After having learned over the last decade to appreciate bodies, shapes and ages different, a new idea of beauty is finally making headway: that of freedom, respect and diversity.”
