Our new house was outdated and not our style – we didn’t love it so we did a DIY makeover, it was so worth it

AN interior designer has bought a house that she wasn’t totally in love with, but she’s trusting her own skill and good eye for a solid foundation.

A few DIY projects later, and it became her dream home.

Amanda West (@accordingtomandy) is an interior designer who isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty in the name of elegant home décor.

She’s a big fan of DIYs and has a knack for turning budget buys into something luxurious.

“We bought a house we didn’t love,” she began in the clip.

With its old-school finishings, worn out wooden furniture, beige walls, paisley bedsheets, paper window shades, and bland tile floors, it didn’t exactly scream chic.

Still, the design guru had a vision.

With two little kids in tow, Amanda and her husband were ready to put in the work to make it the perfect family home.

They put their painters’ suits and construction glasses on and began measuring, sawing, and installing.

Some walls received tasteful trims, others were painted a shade of beige, and many became art display backdrops or wallpaper canvases.

The couple added tasteful shelves to one nook and painted another cabinet a shade of gray.

They also incorporated various textures in the furniture: a white upholstered sofa, a large wooden coffee table, and velvet ottomans.

Rugs in each room gave the space a cozy yet elevated feel.

Amanda had a word of advice for wannabe homebuyers: “Look past the fact that it’s outdated and not your style. Put in the work and I promise it will be worth it.”

She left viewers in awe of the transformation.

“Amazing!! Congratulations,” one applauded.

“Wow you nailed it,” echoed another.
