CHELSEA are in position to HIJACK Kylian Mbappe’s transfer to Liverpool, according to a sensational report.
Following reports Paris Saint-Germain were in talks with Liverpool over a loan transfer for Mbappe, the Blues have now entered the race with a player-plus-cash proposal.
The Daily Record claim Mbappe has been placed into a group of so-called “loft” players at the club – including Liverpool hero Georginio Wijnaldum and Julian Draxler – as they look to sell him.
Mbappe, 24, was placed on the French outfit’s for sale list after announcing he would NOT sign a new deal at the club.
PSG are said to have “encouraged” Todd Boehly‘s outfit to make an offer for the superstar after accepting a world-record bid of £259million from Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Hilal.
However, Mbappe declined to discuss a contract with them despite being offered wage package worth a staggering £603m-a-year.
The report neglects to mention who is on the table from a Chelsea perspective, but Mauricio Pochettino is keen to cut down on his squad size.
When he was 10 years old Mbappe had a trial at Chelsea.
But the Blues passed up the option to sign him after he failed to score in an 8-0 thumping of Charlton.
When asked about the trip at his PSG unveiling, he said: “It was a wonderful experience. Chelsea was the first great club, the first big club, that I went to visit.

“So it was a real discovery for me. We played against Charlton, I think, and we won maybe seven or eight nil.
“I also got to meet some of the first-team players – [Didier] Drogba, [Florent] Malouda – the French-speaking ones and took some pictures with them.
“An idea has been reinforced since I was a kid – not just because I went to Chelsea.
“I always thought: ‘I want to be there, I want to be one of those big players who is trying to give people fun out of the game.’
“And I have given everything to reach that objective. Now I am on the other side of the camera, on the other side of the TV. That’s the only difference.”
But Chelsea are not the only club with whom the Frenchman has history.
Mbappe has previously spoken about his admiration for Liverpool, revealing he even held talks over a move from Monaco before sealing a switch to PSG.
The World Cup final hat-trick scorer even has a Liverpool-supporting Mum and agent, Fayza Lamari.
Despite this, Real Madrid are the long-term favourites to land him.
Elsewhere in the market, Chelsea have agreed deals for fellow Ligue 1 stars Axel Disasi and Lesley Ugochukwu for £38m and £23.5m respectively.
