Who are Jamie Lynn Spears’ parents Jamie and Lynne?
Jamie and Lynne married in 1976 and had their first child, Bryan Spears, in 1977.
However, Lynne filed for divorce in 1980.
By 1981 they had reconciled and welcomed their eldest daughter Britney.
Ten years later they had Jamie Lynn, the youngest of the siblings.
By 2002, the divorce went ahead, but while Britney was in a conservatorship, in 2010 they rekindled their relationship and remarried.
What do her parents do?
Before their eldest daughter Britney’s rise to stardom, Lynne worked as a teacher and ran a daycare.
According to MailOnline, Lynne had to return to teaching in 2023 amid financial struggles.
When Britney Spears was put under a court-ordered conservatorship in 2008, Jamie was her conservator with attorney Andrew Wallet.
In 2021, the conservatorship was officially terminated and Jamie and Andrew were no longer in charge of all of Britney’s personal and financial affairs.
In court, Britney said she was “depressed” under her father’s control, but Jamie insisted he was doing it as a form of protection.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, he said: “Not everybody’s going to agree with me. It’s been one hell of a time. But I love my daughter with all my heart and soul. Where would Britney be right now without that conservatorship? And I don’t know if she’d be alive. I don’t.”
At the time of being a conservator, Jamie was said to be taking home a $130,000 (£104,000) salary during that time.
Before this, Jamie reportedly ran a successful construction business and owned a seafood restaurant called Granny’s.
What was their family life like?
Jamie Lynn has previously said that her mum and dad were very focused on what Britney was going through, and that was tough for her growing up.
She shared on the Call Her Daddy podcast that Britney was going to purchase a home for Lynne as long as Lynne and Jamie Spears split up.
Jamie Lynn said, “I was really confused by that.”
Jamie Lynn continued, “Already, these dynamics are messed up, and that’s where I think, too, my dynamics were kind of effed up. Because my sister’s paying bills. But I was a kid—I didn’t have a choice where I put my head or where I slept.
“Like, what am I gonna do? Tell my mom I’m not sleeping here? Well, guess what, you’re sleeping on the street.
“I had no choice over that. But it was confusing to me. [I thought,] ‘Wait, so they’re getting a divorce and my sister said she’s gonna pay for…’ Can you imagine the math going on in my head?”
What has Jamie Lynn said about her parents?
Jamie Lynn has been open about the scrutiny she faced after falling pregnant for the first time when she was 15, back in 2007.
In her 2021 memoir, titled Things I Should Have Said, she claimed that her parents “banished” her into isolation because she’d refused to have an abortion.
She wrote, “Everyone was certain that termination would be the best course of action.
“Everyone around me just wanted to make this ‘issue’ disappear.”
