PC gamers can grab 83-rated hack-and-slash game absolutely free

PC players can snatch another freebie this week, and this time, it’s rated 83 on Metacritic.

The 2024 Mega Sale on the Epic Games Store is still in full swing, and players are treated to a mystery free game every Thursday.

Chivalry 2 is this week’s free game and it will be available until June 6, when the Mega Sale will reveal its last mystery title.

A multiplayer hack-and-slash game set during the Middle Ages, Chivalry 2 will have you fight other players with hammers, maces, long swords, and other medieval weaponry.

Timing your slashes and parries is key to combat in the game, and you should be careful when swinging your axe or sword, as “friendly fire” is present in team modes.

Chivalry 2 features a team deathmatch mode where up to 64 players can join the fray and a free-for-all deathmatch mode for absolute medieval mayhem.

Some game modes have team objectives beyond slaying opponents, such as breaking into the enemy castle, killing the enemy Duke or safely escorting yours, or defending a position on the map.

The game was praised by critics when it launched in 2021, but has since earned mixed reviews from players.

When not on sale, Chivalry 2 is priced at £35.99 / $39.99, so Epic Games’ free offer is saving players quite some money.

The game will be available for free until June 6, 2024, when the Epic Games Store will offer another free title, which is a mystery for now.

The next title will be the last mystery game, as the Mega Sale ends on June 13, 2024.

Last week’s free offer was Farming Simulator 22, but you can’t claim this one anymore.

To grab Chivalry 2, you must have a free Epic Games Store account.

You can claim the game either from the store’s website or via the Epic Games Launcher.

You will need to install the launcher app on your PC to download and play the game.
