We’ll be bringing you the best Black Friday deals as they drop, so make sure to keep checking back.

In the meantime, read on to find out more about Black Friday 2024.

We’ve even included a couple of live Nintendo Switch deals ahead of the big day.

When is Black Friday 2024?

Black Friday falls on November 29 this year – the day after Thanksgiving in the US.

In the past, it used to mean waking up at the crack of dawn to force your way through a crowded supermarket, retail park, or high street store in search of a bargain.

However, now it’s more about building a wish list and keeping an eye on your favourite shops from the start of November.

Black Friday deals often continue through the weekend and come to a close on Cyber Monday (unless they sell out before of course).

Is Nintendo taking part in Black Friday this year?

Nintendo has taken part in Black Friday in the past, so we’d be surprised if they didn’t do so again in 2024.

However, if you’re hoping for a mega price cut on consoles you might be left a little disappointed, as there have only been minor discounts in the past.

You’ll tend to find better-value games and accessories rather than huge discounts on the console itself, which can be a great thing if you already own a device and want to beef up your gaming library.

It’s also worth keeping an eye out for bundles (deals on consoles with games) as these are often the best value for money.

What to expect from Nintendo’s Black Friday sale 2024

Shoppers can expect to score deals on the Nintendo Switch OLED, original Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite, and, of course, bundles from various retailers.

We’re also expecting to see games and accessories slashed during the Black Friday sales.

Remember, it’s also worth checking out Black Friday deals from retailers such as Amazon, Very, and Argos, as well as the Nintendo store.

When is Cyber Monday 2024 and is Nintendo taking part?

This year Cyber Monday falls on December 2.

Deals that start on Black Friday generally continue across the weekend and into Cyber Monday, though some retailers do hold back discounts, especially for that day.

Cyber Monday used to mark the last day of the sales extravaganza, but in recent years many retailers continue their offers into December, which is great for Christmas gifting.

Originally Cyber Monday bargains were online only, but now you’ll find offers in-store on the day too – giving you an extra opportunity to bag a bargain.

Nintendo has been known to participate in Cyber Monday sales in the past, so we’re hoping that the brand follows a similar sales schedule this time around.

How much does Nintendo’s shipping cost?

What is the Nintendo Switch?

First released back in 2017, the Switch is a gaming console created by Nintendo.

The Switch Lite was launched in 2019 and the OLED model was later released in 2021.

The standard model and the OLED model can be played as hand-held consoles and as plug-in consoles that you play through your TV, whereas the Lite model only operates as a hand-held console.

The Switch also boasts a host of exclusive Nintendo titles such as Mario, Pokemon, and Animal Crossing.

Since its release, it’s been immensely popular, sometimes leading to stock shortages around key buying times, including Christmas.

If you’re not sure which model to choose, don’t worry, we’ve got everything you need to know in our Nintendo Switch OLED vs Switch vs Switch Lite guide.

How much does a Nintendo Switch cost?

The price of a Nintendo Switch depends on the model you’re planning to buy.

The standard, first-generation Nintendo Switch currently costs around £260.

For the newer, higher-spec Nintendo Switch OLED, you can expect to pay around £280 on Amazon right now.

For the lighter-spec Nintendo Switch Lite, you will spend around £190 on Amazon, depending on the colour.

Where to buy the Nintendo Switch in the UK?

You’ll find that the Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch OLED, and Nintendo Switch Lite are all available to buy from a wide selection of UK stores.

Here are just a few retailers that stock the Nintendo Switch in the UK:

For those shopping in the States, the Switch is available to purchase from several online retailers.

These include Walmart, Amazon, Target, and Best Buy.

What’s the difference between the Nintendo Switch and the Nintendo Switch Lite?

The standard Nintendo Switch can be used both at home with your TV or on the go as a portable console, whereas the Nintendo Switch Lite is solely a handheld console.

As its name suggests, the Lite is a bit lighter and also has a slightly smaller screen and smaller battery capacity.

The Lite model will play any regular Switch game just as long as it supports Handheld Mode.

We’ve broken down the key differences between both Nintendo Switch consoles here.

Is the Nintendo Switch worth buying?

The Nintendo Switch is an excellent piece of tech and one that enjoys a glittering reputation on the market – but whether it’s worth buying depends on the sort of gaming you are planning on doing.

Given its hybrid portability, the Switch is aimed at children, families, and commuters.

However, it has plenty of appeal for traditional gamers too thanks to Nintendo’s stable of exclusive game series, including Mario and Pokemon.

How to charge a Nintendo Switch controller

There are two different ways to charge a Nintendo Switch controller.

The first is by attaching them to the Joy-Con charging grip.

Simply connect the Joy-Con charging grip to the Nintendo Switch dock using the USB cable that is included – this will charge them both.

Alternatively, you can attach the controllers to the console itself and charge them that way.

It takes approximately three hours and 30 minutes to fully charge the Joy-Con controllers.

To find out more information on how to charge your controllers, head over to our handy explainer.

Does the Nintendo Switch have Bluetooth?

Yes, you can use Bluetooth audio devices such as earbuds, headphones, and speakers with the Nintendo Switch.

Bluetooth audio was added to the Switch through a software update in late 2021.

Prior to the update, the Switch wasn’t able to support wireless headphones without a workaround.

If you didn’t want to spend time untangling wires on your commute before booting up a game, you’d need to use an adaptor to pair your wireless earbuds or headset.

Can you watch movies on the Nintendo Switch?

It’s not as easy to stream on the Nintendo Switch compared to other consoles, but yes, you can use it to watch purchased TV and movies.

To do this, you’ll need to sync your Google Play or iTunes accounts to the Switch.

You can also access apps such as YouTube and Hulu via the online Nintendo store.

Can the Nintendo Switch Lite play Nintendo Switch games?

According to the brand, ”only Nintendo Switch games that are compatible with Handheld Mode can be played on the Nintendo Switch Lite”.

However, some features may not be available if the game uses Joy-Con functions like HD rumble, IR Motion Camera, or Joy-Con motion sensors.
