When is Black Friday 2024?
Black Friday falls on 29 November 2024, the day after the US Thanksgiving holiday.
The shopping event kickstarts the wider ‘Cyber Weekend’ sale, which then concludes on Cyber Monday.
Although originally a US-only sale event, over the last few years Black Friday has fast become a global phenomenon, with thousands of international retailers taking part in the annual sale event.
But, in some cases retailers may launch its Black Friday sale in advance of 29th November.
However, there is more meaning to the Black Friday sale than big discounts and bundles like some assume.

Is John Lewis taking part in Black Friday this year?
Yes! John Lewis has already confirmed on its Black Friday page that it’ll be taking part in this year’s festivities, once again.
The retailer states: “This Black Friday 2024, don’t miss out on a world of incredible savings at John Lewis.
“We’ve curated a varied collection of Black Friday shopping deals that span all departments, ensuring there is something for your every need.”
John Lewis has teased products will be reduced by up to 50% in the Black Friday sale, but what those items will be remains a mystery.

In the past, the John Lewis Black Friday sale has included some impressive deals spanning all categories including fashion and beauty, furniture and homewares.
John Lewis is the ideal one-stop-shop for snapping up everything on your wishlist, whether that’s a new dress or bag, microwave, luggage, technology or sofa.
It’s not uncommon for John Lewis to host bigger offers on some of its own branded items, too.
For example, the ANYDAY range, which has many household and garden essentials as well as clothing, will almost certainly feature in any discounts over Black Friday.

When does the John Lewis Black Friday sale start?
Last year John Lewis launched its Black Friday offers at the beginning of November – before the official start date of Black Friday – so there’s a chance it will do the same again this year.
More and more retailers like John Lewis are choosing to offer early deals, which expands the discount season even more, and gives bargain hunters more time to browse and research offers before checking out.
John Lewis also offers a price drop guarantee, which means if you buy a product from the retailer and it’s then reduced in price, you can claim a refund on the extra you paid within 35 days of purchase –whether that’s online or in-store.
When does the John Lewis Black Friday sale end?
Cyber Monday is usually an online-only sale event, and typically marks the end of the Black Friday deals.
The John Lewis sale usually ends at midnight on Cyber Monday, which this year is on 2nd December.
Previously, different departments at John Lewis launched its offers on separate dates, so it could be that some price reductions continue after Cyber Monday, and finish slightly later.
But, that remains to be seen.
Last year, John Lewis added new offers throughout November, so it’s definitely worth checking the website throughout the month to stay in the know of all the best Black Friday deals.
When is Cyber Monday 2024 and is John Lewis taking part?
This year, Cyber Monday falls on 2 December.
It is always on the first Monday immediately after Black Friday and usually concludes the offers for the Cyber Weekend.
Cyber Monday was traditionally the online counterpart to Black Friday, but as there has been a shift towards offering deals online throughout the sale period in November, Cyber Monday is now considered the end date of most sales.
Many retailers will offer discounts right up until midnight.
However, some of the most popular items tend to sell out fast and may not still be available to shop by Cyber Monday, so you will want to shop quickly if you see a bargain you don’t want to miss.
When do the John Lewis Cyber Monday deals end?
Generally, Black Friday sales tend to last until Cyber Monday – though some do continue long into December.
In theory, Cyber Monday – which is on 2 December this year – will be the final day of the 2024 Black Friday sales.
However, some retailers can be generous and extend their deals into the rest of the week – or even later.
It’s worth checking out the John Lewis website after Cyber Monday to see if any of its Black Friday and Cyber Monday discounts will continue.
But I wouldn’t wait until Cyber Monday to shop your favourite items, as you could run the risk of missing out on your must-have purchase that was reduced.
So, if you want to secure a specific item while it is on sale, I suggest you do that by midnight on Cyber Monday, if not earlier in the Cyber Weekend sale.

How much does John Lewis delivery cost?
Delivery costs £4.50 on orders under £50, while purchases over £50 are delivered for free – though there are exceptions for large items and some items being delivered to non-UK mainland locations.
Alternatively, you can click and collect for free on orders over £30, or arrange a Collect+ delivery to a location near you for £2.50.
Smaller items are usually delivered within five working days.
