Viewers know Rocky Cotton tried to set the fire up to claim on the insurance, but he didn’t count on Bobby finding the fire on his way to the shop.

But instead of calling the police, Bobby opened up, ran inside, shut the door and tried to extinguish the fire himself with the fire blanket.

After struggling he finally got an extinguisher to work and he put the fire out.

However not being the sharpest knife in the drawer, Bobby then tried to do some investigating about how the fire started.

But he couldn’t see in the darkness so he flicked the tripped switches and promptly blew the cafe up.

The explosion hurled him across the cafe, blew out the windows and set the place up in flames.

As Walford residents rushed out to the explosion, Peter realised his brother was inside the cafe and rushed in to save him.

Rocky followed but as they carried Bobby out, Peter got his foot stuck in the debris and then the roof caved in.

Ambulances quickly arrived and rushed the three men to hospital but Kathy was beside herself.

She told Rocky when he came to: “They were unconscious when they were carried out and now they’re in intensive care. Peter’s on a ventilator. We don’t know if they’ll make it.”

But fans are still shocked by how Bobby managed to cock things up quite so spectacularly.

One wrote: “What the heck did Bobby think he was achieving. Get a grip writers, for pity sake.”

A second said: “Don’t turn the lights on Bobby!”

Another added: “OMG Bobby why would you do that?!”
