JAKE Paul is returning to the ring for the first time since fighting MMA star Nate Diaz.
The “Problem Child” YouTuber is up against Andre August — but who is August, what is his boxing record? Here’s all you need to know about the anticipated clash.

Andre August is an American pro-boxer from Beaumont, Texas.
The 35-year-old made his boxing debut fight back in May 2013 when he defeated Steven Medrano via TKO.
The boxer was then undefeated in a run of six fights.
While August isn’t a huge name in the boxing world, he will be Paul’s first opponent who is an out-and-out professional boxer.
And that is reflected in his tweet where Paul says: “Just straight boxing” as it now appears the YouTuber will be moving away from exhibition bouts and towards becoming a fully-fledged professional.
Outside the ring, August is a family man, often sharing photos of his partner and children with his 17k Instagram followers.
Ahead of Friday’s fight, August has been posting on Instagram to drum up interest, writing: “4 days out. Fight week Let’s Grooove.”
One follower replied: “Not paying for this one I lost hope in boxing when Jake Paul came along it’s all a show. Boxing is the most corrupt sport on earth. All about money”
Another said: “Let’s go champ”.
While no titles are on the line when Paul and August meet for Friday’s fight, Paul may be looking to redeem himself to prove he can compete with the pros, rather than just influencers.
August will also likely view the fight as a chance to make a name for himself and see his profile soar if he wins.
What is Andre August’s boxing record?
According to BoxRec, August has fought in 12 professional bouts, winning 10 — including five by KO.
His only defeat came against fellow American boxer Eric Abraham in 2018.
August’s latest victory came against the until then undefeated 7-0 Brandon Martin in August 2023, which he won unanimously on points.
Despite being relatively unknown, August has the most experience and KOs of any opponent Paul has faced in his career.
Jake Paul is currently the strong favourite to win the Friday on Friday.
Problem Child Paul is priced at 1/7 with PaddyPower, with Andre August out at 9/2 with William Hill, with Unibet offering the best price on a draw at 18/1.
When is Andre August and Jake Paul’s fight?
Andre August and Jake Paul are set to clash in the boxing ring this Friday — on December 15, 2023, at the Caribe Royale Orlando in Florida.
The card will start at 1am GMT/ 8pm ET.
Ring-walks for the hotly anticipated main event, which will be shown live on DAZN, will be at approximately 4am GMT/ 11pm ET.
According to combat sports journalist Ariel Helwani, the fight will take place at cruiserweight and consist of eight rounds.
Confirming the fight on X, formerly known as Twitter, Paul wrote: “Ask and I shall deliver. August has more KO’s than me, more wins than me, more experience than me, but I like to gamble.
“The path to world champ starts here. Just straight up boxing.”
Paul also listed four reasons why his opponent August was a good choice after many fans were left underwhelmed when the Texan boxer was announced as his opponent, following big-name battles with Diaz, Tommy Fury and Anderson Silva.
He said: ”Boxer true and true. Better record than me. More wins by KO than me. Same weight.”
Ahead of the highly-anticipated clash, Andre August issued a warning.
The boxer said: ”I don’t talk very much. I’m all about that action.
”Jake Paul has the money, the fame, the team and the resources, but he doesn’t have my hunger.
”When that bell rings, I am going to go straight to Jake Paul and ring his bell and send him back to YouTube for good.”
