When is Black Friday 2024?

Wondering when is Black Friday this year? Well, save the date: Black Friday 2024 is happening on Friday 29 November.

Usually, it’s on the fourth Friday of November, right after Thanksgiving in the US.

But this year, it’s a little different, as it lands on the fifth Friday of the month.

Even though the main event is on 29 November, a lot of stores, like Selfridges, tend to start their Black Friday sales a bit earlier in the month.

So, keep your eyes peeled for announcements leading up to the big day.

Is Selfridges taking part in Black Friday this year?

Selfridges usually picks and chooses when it wants to launch its sales, and the retailer has thrown some curveballs with surprise discounts on some pretty upscale brands.

For Black Friday 2024, folks are expecting Selfridges to get in on the action, but probably with a limited selection instead of store-wide markdowns.

Similarly to M&S’ Black Friday sale, Selfridges avoids calling its sale Black Friday.

Last year, the store’s 2023 sale was called ‘Christmas Come Early’ rather than Black Friday, and we expect the department store to follow suit again this year.

In the past, it has rolled out sales with up to 20% off certain items in November and December, so keep your eyes peeled for awesome deals on your favourite brands.

What to expect from the Selfridges Black Friday Sale 2024

While Selfridges may not heavily discount every brand, there are usually impressive savings to be found on high-end labels.

If previous years are anything to go by, we predict a curated selection of discounts across various departments, including fashion, beauty and home. 

As Selfridges does start dropping prices, look out for markdowns on sought-after labels such as Whistles, Frankie Shop, Skims as well as deals on high-end beauty brands such as Charlotte Tilbury, GHD and The White Company.

What was in the Selfridges Black Friday Sale last year?

Last year, Selfridges offered a selection of impressive deals across several categories during its Black Friday event.

However, the store’s Black Friday sale went under another name. Instead, it was called its ‘Christmas Comes Early’ offers.

Discounts ranged from 20% to 30% off on select fashion and beauty items, such as coveted brands such as Mulberry, ghd and Nike. 

Many shoppers were able to snap up designer handbags, shoes and apparel at reduced prices, along with skincare and beauty products from premium brands.

There were also deals on key tech items like the Beats x Kim K Earth Beats Wireless Earbuds.

Based on previous years, it’s likely we’ll see a similar pattern for 2024, with a focus on curated discounts across select brands and categories.

When is Cyber Monday 2024 and is Selfridges taking part?

Cyber Monday, which follows Black Friday, falls on Monday 2 December 2024. 

The day is traditionally focused on online shopping, and Selfridges is expected to extend their deals throughout the weekend and into Cyber Monday. 

Although, as the retailer hasn’t been participating in the traditional Black Friday sales in recent years, expect any discounts on Cyber Monday to be under a different promotional guise.

How much does Selfridges’ shipping cost?

Delivery is dependent on how much you spend and how quickly you need it delivered, this can range from £5 to £15.

If you want your order immediately, or you are in the area and free to pick up your purchase in person, Selfridges shoppers can also opt for free Click and Collect.

From £10 per year, you can opt for the Selfridges+ service, where you can enjoy unlimited deliveries for 12 months, wherever you are in the world.
