Suspected human remains found in Loch Lomond as police launch probe

A MAJOR probe has been launched after suspected human remains were found in Loch Lomond.

The grim discovery was made on Saturday close to Rubha Dubh, at Firkin Point.

The alarm was raised around 12.40pm yesterday.

Cops removed the suspected body parts from the area.

They have been taken away to be thoroughly examined to find out if they are human.

A Police Scotland spokesperson told BBC Scotland:  “Extensive inquiries are ongoing.”

Firkin Point is one of the most popular locations on the Loch.

It is a picnic area and campsite on the banks.
