Number of alcoholic drinks Santa knocks back during UK rounds revealed

SANTA knows how to get into the Christmas spirit — knocking back two million alcoholic drinks on his UK rounds alone.

He necks the lot over just six hours as families continue the tradition of leaving out a boozy pick-me-up for the binge-drinking do-gooder.

Whisky is his most popular beverage, with 511,691 sunk overnight.

He also gets through 436,701 beers, 291,134 sherries, 220,557 wines and 216,146 brandies.

And if that’s not enough booze to give him a face as red as Rudolph’s nose, he also knocks back 114,689 rums, 83,811 mulled wines and 57,344 ports — washed down with 61,755 sparkling wines.

Generous regions that left the most out for the fictional Christmas icon were North East, Wales and the East Midlands.

But Asda’s research also found 90 per cent of parents of under-12s prefer Santa to fly his sleigh sober.

Demand for low and no alcohol drinks has risen 46 per cent and Asda’s Ryan Truswell said: “At a time of year when we see a spike in customers shopping for alcohol alternatives, it’s important we can offer them an exciting option for their festive celebrations and expand our existing range to cover all drinks styles and customer-favourites.

“As we approach the big day, there’s something for everyone, even Santa.”

It’s probably a massive hang-ho-ho-ho-ver.
